Description

Making roads safer and road transport more efficient through improvements in drivers education is at the core of the new SEED multinational training initiative launched in South East Europe.

Our project sets out to improve the quality of road transport vocational training in Europe through a cross-national, cross-sectoral and multilingual partnership.

It is aimed primarily at increasing the level of training and technical skills for instructors who provide initial and periodic training to truck drivers in the South Eastern region of Europe.

By making the best use of their “differences,” resources and know-how, partners will produce innovative ICT-based pedagogical approaches, assessment and evaluation methods.

SEED training programme will also promote innovative and interactive pedagogical approaches whilst exploring new training and learning strategies in the field of road transport.
Objective

Higher level of professionalism in road transport delivery.

Better trained and better qualified instructors and professional drivers.

Increase capacity building and potential for innovation and change in a rapidly-evolving sector.

Increased cross-border cooperation in road transport will lead to harmonisation of Driver training and mutual recognition of driver qualification in full conformity with the objectives of EU ET 2020 and EU transport legislation.

It will contribute to achieving mutual recognition of instructor and driver qualification between diverse European countries whilst supporting their sustained cohesion, economic development and transport operability.

Project Input:

In road transport professional training is pooling their resources to develop a training programme for drivers and instructors in the region.

Promoting innovative and interactive pedagogical approaches for life-long education, exploring new training and learning strategies in road transport professional qualification.

Organizing pilot training sessions, national workshops and awareness-raising events in each target country.

Pilot Countries:

9 partners in 7 countries: Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, France, Kosovo* (UN Resolution), FYR of Macedonia, Serbia).
Status:

The project has been done from 01/09/2014-31/08/2017 and Pilot training sessions will be organized in each participating South East Europe country halfway through the project lifetime in order to evaluate the relevance and quality of the SEED programme nationwide prior to its further dissemination in the EU and beyond.
