INTRODUCTION
Logistics is a very important part of ecommerce. The logistics of physical items usually involves the integration of information flow, materials handling, production, packaging, inventory, transportation, warehousing, and often security. The logistics sector is changing rapidly, so it’s very necessary to be aware of current trends in order to remain competitive. Logistics is an industry and a vital part of any business model; it is the control of the flow and storage of goods into and out of a business.

Logistics is one of the big sectors that influence Dutch economy, providing increasing added value to the GDP of 14% and contributing towards employment, with around 813,000 jobs. Logistics is thus a top priority for the Dutch government and industry for international competitiveness.

Netherlands plays an important role in the import of goods from all around the world into Europe. Logistics is also a key enabler for the success of other sectors, such as high tech, agriculture, agro-food, chemicals and energy. Good logistics is very important for companies in these sectors in order to achieve punctuality and delivery reliability and to reinforce their market positions.
Logistics technology is a means to enhance business competitiveness and performance. It plays a major role in success of supply chain by enhancing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the logistics system. In logistics, information, communication and automation technologies has substantially increased speed of identification, data gathering, processing, analysis and transmission, with high level of accuracy and reliability. The intelligent timing and goods flows combined lead to an effective selection of quality options. This, in turn, leads to the more efficient use of sources between the various options as well as improved communication between the parties across logistics. Also, unnecessary mileage and waiting times are reduced and logistics is facilitated. Logistic challenges naturally require an international approach and collaboration in order to connect important trading corridors and surrounding areas.
